Thanks, By The Way: By: Mehwish Fatima My hands, smooth around its’ surface, grab the globe tighter. It’s even all around. Clear where the water lies; the gold making out the lands of Earth. Nostalgically, I feel the blood rushing to my face, feeling myself reaching at life’s rewind button. I want to re-experience that special moment where my best friend and cousin, who is also my age, gave me such a sentimental gift. I was young when I got this present. At this age, I wanted to travel the world; parasail in Hawaii, ski in Switzerland, parachute off a plane in Africa. At this young age, they said, I was unrealistic. She smiled knowingly, her hand held out. I eagerly grabbed at it and opened the box. Crying, I thanked her, not for the gift, but for knowing me so well.
