Mo’s end
Last Saturday Yankee closer of 18 seasons, Mariano “Mo” Rivera, announced that he will retire at the end of the season. Rivera’s press conference was before his debut in spring training. His return was delayed because he was still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season. Mo said that he would have retired at the end of last season if it weren’t for the injury since he would not want to walk away from baseball like that. The panama-born closer has the most saves in MLB history with 608 and the most postseason saves with 42 which is ironically his number. With Rivera retiring marks that now no players will ever where 42 again since that was Jackie Robinson’s number which was retired after Mariano Rivera chose the number. Mariano Rivera is going to be considered the greatest closer of all time. He will be missed in the New York Yankee organization and in baseball.
