Russian Meteorite Strike
BOOM! The streak of light and smoke exploded causing destructive shockwaves. “Over 1,200 people hurt… with more than 200 children (included)…About 3,000 buildings damaged,” states CNN. It was shattered glass mostly, though. This incident was like a mini nuclear bomb, “equivalent to 300,000 tons of TNT”.
On February 15, 2012, a meteorite crashed in the Chelyabinsk area in Russia at 9:20 am. Extremely-rare, this event was captured by unprofessional cameras, with numerous videos and pictures. On entering the atmosphere, the meteor broke into pieces. Other sections probably landed in nearby regions.
This light it caused was bright enough to shadow the growing daylight.
