Grand loss for the Yankees by Tom S.
In his first at bat of Spring Training for Yankees centerfielder Curtis Granderson got drilled in the arm by Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ. He jogged over to first base like it was nothing major. We later found out that Granderson broke his right forearm. Granderson is now on a long list of injured Yankees. Going into Spring Training the Yankees knew that they would be without third basemen Alex Rodriguez until about the All-Star break in July and now Granderson will be out until at least May. Team captain Derek Jeter is already trying to return effectively from a broken ankle suffered in last year’s playoffs and ace pitchers C.C. Sabathia and Mariano Rivera are recovering from an elbow surgery for Sabathia and a torn ACL for Rivera. The Yankees star players continue to get banged up and are going to have to find a way to play well. The always talented New York Yankees might end up missing the playoffs for the first time since 2008 if the injuries continue to pile up and the bats don’t get going. Sorry Yankee fans the panic meter should be on high.
